- The workshop started with a brief introduction about the various competitive exams from class VIII onwards and how MTSE forms the foundation of the same The details of the scholarships given under the various competitive exams are awarded to the candidates for pursuing courses in sciences and social sciences up to doctoral level and in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to second-degree level subject to the fulfillment of the conditions were given by Prof G.C. Kulkarni.

Why Maharashtra Talent Search Examination Started ?
We strongly believe that – “Talent is not a monopoly of any nation, religion, caste, place or period”. The existing school curriculum and the examination system are unable to identify and motivate the talented students. It is, therefore, as a national and social binding, the Competitive Examination Guidance Centre, N. Wadia College; Pune has undertaken the search of Talented Students through “Maharashtra Talent Search Examination” since 1992.
Aims of M.T.S.E.
1. To Search the talented students.
2. To equip the students for NTS (std.VIII) and other competitive examinations in future.
3. To encourage the students to appear for various competitive examinations and to create an urge and ambition to succeed in each examinations from an early age.
4. To honor and encourage the selected students by awarding scholarships and prizes.
- Prof G. C. Kulkarni took over with few concepts in Chemistry e.g. Periodic Table,Physics,Biology and Prof.Kane took over with some concepts of Algebra and Geometry in Mathematics where the emphasis was that the teacher plays a crucial role, by creating enabling and supporting conditions for the process of Knowledge Construction by the child to happen. In this context, teacher is a facilitator who encourages learner to reflect, analyse and interpret in the process of construction of knowledge.
Various examples from certain concepts of Science and Mathematics were taken and explained how the teacher can create various situations wherein students interact with the teacher and understand the concepts, and then the teacher refines or revises those concepts by asking questions, posing contradictions and engaging them in inquiries.
Situations were created by taking various concepts and explained how a Teacher can engage her students in discussion in a democratic set-up of the classroom to facilitate them to understand the words and concepts not understood yet. She makes the children aware that their experiences and perceptions are important. They are encouraged to develop the mental skill needed to think and reason independently and to have the courage to dissent.
Over all a good learning experience !!!
